*...Urges Deltans to Comply with Directive*

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Implementation, Evaluation and Monitoring, Hon. Johnson Erijo has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for deciding to make the wearing of face masks in public places, compulsory for Deltans as a measure to curb the spread of coronavirus in the State.

Hon. Erijo who is the Head of the State Project Monitoring Office, gave the commendation in Asaba on Tuesday while chatting with the SSA to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Engineer Emmanuel Chuks Mormah, Head of the Media Unit of the Office.

The former lawmaker noted that the health of Deltans is of paramount importance to Dr. Okowa and his team hence the order on the wearing of face masks by all Deltans in public places. He promised to mobilize all the EAs, SSAs and SAs in his Office to help monitor public compliance with the face masks wearing order and report back to him for onward transmission to the Governor.

Hon. Erijo advised all Deltans not to see the relaxation of the lockdown order as an opportunity to live and act recklessly, but rather to continue to maintain social distancing, wash their hands with soap and running water, use alcohol-based sanitizers, as well as wear face masks in public places, towards curbing the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 in the State.

He said it is only when Govt directives are complied with by all, that the health of all Deltans can be guaranteed, and commended the people for their patience during the 28 days lockdown period in the State.

Meanwhile, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has ordered the production of  face masks in large quantities for distribution to Deltans as a support from the Delta State Government.
