THREE OKPE LEADERS GIVE LIFELINE TO VULNERABLE IN THEIR WARDS

As part of efforts to complement the Delta State Government Palliatiive, three notable leaders in Okpe LGA, Chairman of Delta State Local Government Service Commission,
Honourable Dr. Joseph Otirhue, Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring and Development, Chief Mrs Esther Onokpasa and
First Member Delta State Civil Service Commission,Chief Mrs Rose Amioku, on Tuesday April 28 2020 distributed twenty six bags of fifty kg Rice to vulnerable persons in Ward Seven in Okpe LGA of Delta State.
Chief Mrs Esther Onokpasa who presented the bags of rice to the Ward leaders for onward distribution to the beneficiaries said that they decided to complement the palliative efforts of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori.
She noted that the palliatives are for the very poor, vulnerable, widows, elders and unemployed. She urged those in charge of the community food bank to ensure that the palliative gets to the target people.
Chief Mrs Onokpasa however disclosed that the communities to benefit from the palliatives are Egbrode, Okuvo, Okwokolo as well as Mereje, Erogho, Ekoko 1&2 which make up wards thirteen and fourteen in Okpe LGA.
She commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his efforts in containing the spread of the deadly Coronavirus and urged the beneficiaries to adhere to the precautionary measures stipulated by the National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, by observing social distancing, washing their hands regularly with soap and running water as well as puting on face masks.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, a member of the Community Food Bank Chief Mrs Floxy Macaulay and the Councilor representing ward thirteen in the Legislative Arm of Okpe LGA Council, Hon Anthony Aghogi commended Hon Dr. Joseph Otirhue, Chief Mrs Rose Amioku and Chief Mrs Esther Onokpasa for the gesture, describing it as magnanimous.
They promised to take the palliative to the vulnerable persons in the ward and prayed God to bless them.
