THREE OKPE LEADERS GIVE LIFELINE TO VULNERABLE IN THEIR WARDS

As part of efforts to complement the Delta State Government palliatiive, three notable leaders in Okpe local government area, chairman of Delta State Local Government Service Commission, Honourable Joseph Otirhue, the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Education Monitoring and Development Chief Mrs Esther Onokpalsa, and the First Member Delta State Board of Continuous Education Chief Mrs Roseline Amioku on Tuesday April 28 2020 distributed twenty six bags of fifty kg rice to vulnerable persons in ward thirteen and fourteen in Okpe local government area of Delta State.
Chief Mrs Esther Onokpasa who presented the twenty six bags of rice to the ward leaders for onward distraction to the beneficiaries said that they decided to complement Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Speaker Delta State House of Assembly Right Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori.
She noted that the palliative is not politically motivated but to support the people, so as to cushion the hardships they have suffered as a result of the lockdown.
She noted that the palliatives are for the very poor, vulnerable, widows, elders, petty traders and the needies in the area.
Chief Mrs Esther Onokpasa implored those in charge of the community food bank to ensure that the palliative gets to the target people and not divert them.
She however disclosed that the communities to benefit from the palliative are Mereje, Ekokor one and two, Eroghor as well as Egborode communities which make up ward thirteen and fourteen in Okpe local government area.
She commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his efforts in containing the spread of the deadly coronavirus and urged the beneficiaries to adhere to the precautionary measures stipulated by the National Center for Disease Control NCDC by staying at home, observe social distancing, wash their hands regularly with soap and running water as well as put on face masks.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries a woman leader in the area Chief Mrs Floxy Macaulay and the councilor representing ward thirteen in the Okpe legislative arm of of Okpe Council Hon Anthony Aghogi who both received the palliative commended Hon Joseph Otirhue, Chief Roseline Amioku and Chief Mrs Esther Onokpasa for the gesture, describing it as magnanimous.
They promised to take the palliative to the vulnerable persons in the wards and prayed God to bless them.
