WARRI SOUTH CONSTITUENCY TWO LAWMAKER DONATES FOOD ITEMS TO CONSTITUENTS
Warri -
As part of efforts to cushion the hardship caused by the Lockdown directive of the State Government to prevent the deadly COVID-19 from the State, the member representing Warri South Constituency Two in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Matthew Poko Opuoru has presented bags of rice to the vulnerable in the six wards in his constituency.
Hon Opuoru while presenting the bags of rice to aged women and other vulnerable ones in his constituency, said the gesture was meant to provide food for them while the "Stay at home" directive lasts.
The lawmaker expressed confidence that the gesture will help alleviate the plight of his
beneficiaries and put smiles on their faces.
He explained that, the lockdown directive of the state government was not to punish anyone but to protect Deltans from the
deadly coronavirus that is ravaging the world.
Hon Opuoru stressed that though Delta State has not recorded any case of the pandemic coronavirus, the state government needs to take proactive steps in preventing it from entering the state.
He noted that the COVID-19 is a deadly disease that has no cure but can be prevented by maintaining personal hygiene like regular hand washing with soap and water as well as applying alcohol base sanitizers.
The member representing Warri South Two Constituency added that, the disease can still be prevented by maintaining social distance from others and urged them to stay at home as directed by the state government.
He assured his constituents of qualitative representation that will culminate into even development of the constituency.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with DRTV News thanked Hon Opuoru for rescuing them from hunger and starvation occasioned by the two weeks lockdown.
