A prominent Ijaw leader, Chief Favour Izoukumor has charged Nigerians and Christians in particular, to seek the intervention of God in their efforts to wipe out the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Chief Izoukumor who is the current Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri South West Council Area, gave the charge in his Easter message via his verified tweeter handle.
The astute Ogbe-Ijoh-born politician: cum philanthropist said: ”Easter is the best time for Christians from all denominations to pray for God to have mercy on mankind and destroy the virus ravaging the world.”
He lamented that the deadly virus has killed many persons, as well as crippled many economic activities in all parts of the world, inclusive of Nigeria while adding that the lockdown order by the Federal and Delta State Governments was the right measure to curtail the spread of COVID-19 virus.
Chief Izoukumor, a former DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Ijaw ethnic nationality said although the stay at home directive has made lives difficult for the vulnerable, but will save lives in the long run.
He expressed optimism that God will put an end to the COVID-19 pandemic but advised all Nigerians to adhere to the health tips from the NCDC and the Ministry of Health, by avoiding touching their noses, eyes, and mouths with their hands, and also maintain improved environmental and personal hygiene, amongst others.
