The commissioner representing Okpe, Sapele and Ethiope West on the board of DESOPADEC Hon Joyce Overah says that the governor's Ifeanyi Okowa administration was committed at ensuring conducive learning environment in all public schools across the state.

Hon Overah stated this on Thursday when he went to Urhiapele mixed secondary school Sapele to inspect the level of dilapidation in some of the classrooms.

Hon Joyce Overah who was welcomed into Urhiapele mixed secondary school Sapele by the principal inspected the dilapidated classrooms, the school laboratory and Corper lodge.

Hon Overah who spoke to newsmen shortly after the inspection said he was disturbed when he saw the deplorable state of the school on social media hence he decided to come and see for himself.

The DESOPADEC commissioner maintained that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is passionate about conducive learning environment in public schools in the state.

He added that DESOPADEC which is a government interventionist agency has done some level of intervention in the school in the past and therefore told the school management that something would be done to make learning conducive for the students.

Hon Overah who also reacted to the heap of refuse dumped in some part of the school premises said he would liase with the Sapele council authority to evacuate the refuse as well as to spell out sanction for anyone caught dumping refuse.

On the complained of more security in the school premises, the DESOPADEC commissioner said he will communicate with the commissioner for basic education on that and other related educational issues.

The principal of Urhiapele  mixed secondary school Mr Ovie Etareri thanked the DESOPADEC commissioner for his timely show of concerned towards the school.

No doubt students and management of Urhiapele mixed secondary school Sapele would be glad to see a face lift by government in their school soon.
