The national chairman of Ogbinbiri Federated Communities in Egbema kingdom of Warri North local government area of Delta State Honourable Joel Besine says the aim of the Ogbinbiri National Day was to was to foster peace and understanding among the people that would usher in sustainable development to the land
Honourable Besine stated this on Friday at the Ogbinbiri National Day Award Presentation Ceremony held at little Paradise Hotel in Uvwie local government area of Delta State.
The Ogbinbiri Federated Communities National Chairman said that the event was necessary as it would avail them the opportunity to present awards to individuals who have always identify with Ogbinbiri Day for the past seven years.
He emphasized that when him and his executive came on board seven years ago they came up with the Ogbinbiri Day with the sole aim to enhance oneness among indigenes of the land as well as being about development to the rich oil and gas Ijaw riverine producing community.
Honourable Besine disclosed that the categories of awards are of three which are grassroots mobilizers category, distinguished category and pillar of community development category.
The keynote speaker at the event Dr Godwin Ebosa who was represented said he has always been proud to identify with the Ogbinbiri people.
Dr Ebosa who was also presented an award to, implored the Ogbinbiri people especially youths to refrain from social vices and engage in productive ventures like skills acquisition or formal education.
He maintain that peace is what any society needs to grow on the path of sustainable development and as such urged the people to embrace peace at all times.
Other persons who was presented awards to, including Bishop Dr Godwin Soroaye, Honourable Dickson Asoki, Chief George Timiyan amongst others all lauded the leadership of Ogbinbiri for the way they have piloted the affairs of the community.
They pledged their readiness to support the current executive in whatever way towards the advancement of the community.
High point of the event was the formal presentation of awards to the various individuals for their contribution and support to the Ogbinbiri cause.
