EGCDF ORGANISES XMAS PARTY AND END OF THE YEAR THANKSGIVING SERVICE
Effurun
The people of Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms in Warri North and Warri South West LGAs of Delta State have attributed the sustained peace and the level of development in the area to Divine grace and intervention.
The current Chairman of Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF, Comrade Jude Ukori and the Pioneer Chairman of the Foundation, Dr. I. C. Tola, amongst other Ijaw leaders, made the assertion on Wednesday December 18 2019 in Effurun at an event organised by the RDC to mark the 2019 Yuletide.
Residents of the various communities of the two Ijaw riverine kingdoms gathered at the Secretariat of the Ijaw Regional Development Council, RDC at Effurun, singing and dancing in appreciation to God for the sustainable peace and development in the two riverine kingdoms of Egbama and Gbaramatu.
Drawing their messages from Bible passages, Christian Clerics of Ijaw extraction drawn from various church denominations, prayed for more unity, peace and accelerated development in the two oil producing Ijaw kingdoms of Delta State.
They charged the people to fear God and continue to live in peace with one another so as to attract more investors to the two kingdoms.
Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, its Chairman, Comrade Jude Ukori thanked the Royal Fathers, as well as the entire people of Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms, for supporting the leadership of the Ijaw RDC towards success.
Comrade Ukori commended the NNPC/Chevron joint venture for the community projects executed by the Foundation, and appealed for more assistance to enable the RDC do more for the people.
He also appealed to the residents, especially the youths, to shun criminal acts such as pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering, and violence, so as to create a conducive atmosphere for the oil firm to operate and attract more projects to the communities.
The event featured the sharing of food and drinks in the spirit of Christmas, as well as the presentation of awards of excellence to Comrade Jude Ukori and Comrade Sheriff Mulade for their outstanding performances as Chairman and Secretary of the Foundation respectively.
The Ijaw Christian Clerics led by Rev. I. C Tola then prayed God to grant the leadership of RDC more wisdom and the ability to pilot the affairs of the riverine oil communities of the two Ijaw kingdoms towards achieving more development for the area in the years ahead.
