IGUN DEVELOPMENT

INDIGENES OF IGUN COMMUNITY PLEDGES TO BUILD A VIRILE COMMUNITY.

Indigenes of Igun Community of Agbon Kingdom in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, have been charged to contribute to the development of the land.

The Chairman of the 2019 Igun Conference  Planning Committee, Mr. Micheal Igunvero and other notable Indigenes of Igun gave the charge on Saturday at Igun town, during the community's stakeholders conference.

Sons and daughters of Igun Town in Ethiope East local government Area of Delta State converged on the community town hall to brainstorm on how to move the community on the path of sustainable socio-economic development.

The 2019 conference planning committee chairman, Mr. Michael Igunvero who set the tune, said the forum was to avail Igun people at home and in the diaspora the opportunity to discuss the problems facing the community and as well proffer solutions to them.

Mr. Igunvero lamented that Igun community is grossly underdeveloped in terms of roads, markets, portable drinking water amongst others and as such needs government and relevant authorities to Intervene through a rescue mission.

For his part, a notable politician of Igun extraction, Chief Alex Imarah who chaired the event, stressed the need for all stakeholders including the people and the government to collaborate towards solving the development challenges facing Igun community.

Chief Imarah said it was possible to build a virile Igun Town and implored representatives of the community to attend to the development needs of the area.

Other Indigenes of Igun Town, including the out gone President General, Chief Kingsley Omokri, the  secretary of the 2019 Igun conference, Mr. Micheal Erhurhu, Mrs Obakpororo Itedjere, Mr. Anthony Kohworho and Mr Wilson Egbri, lauded the initiative, adding that it was the right step in the right direction to address the development needs of the community.

They also maintained that Igun community, which is one of the six sub clans of Agbon Kingdom, is very peaceful, and therefore called on investors to take advantage of the prevailing peace to come and invest in the area.

They also urged the Igun Progress Union to make judicious use of the proceeds of the conference in solving the challenges of Igun community.

It is hoped that the Igun conference and fund raising would translate into development for the agrian Igun community.
