The chairman of the local government service commission Honourable Joseph Otirhue says that the governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration was poised at ensuring that the twenty five local government across the state function effectively.

Honourable Otirhue stated this on Wednesday when he led members of the local government service commission on a familiarization tour to Warri South council secretariat to get first hand knowledge on council staffs welfare among others.

The chairman of the local government service commission Honourable Joseph Otirhue flanked by the first member Pastor John Chukwuka Greatness, the second member Reverend Catherine Ilolo, the third member Chief Rose Asore among other members of the commission visited the Warri South local government as part of its familiarization tour to the twenty five local government areas.

Honourable Otirhue who addressed staffs of the Warri South local government said that the essence of the visit was to interact with local government staffs, hear their challenges so as to know how to tackle them.

Honourable Otirhue disclosed that one of the cardinals duties of the commission was to see to the training and retraining of council staffs to perform their task effectively among others.

The local government service commission chairman who after listening to the complaints of staffs, assured them that the commission would look into the issues, such as staff promotions, prompt payment of arrears, as well as correct other abnormally in the system.

He charged staffs to always be dedicated to duties, respect authority as well as be punctual to their duty place of work.

For his part, the Head of Personnel Management Warri South local government Mr Onetesirosan Akambe in his speech, thanked the commission chairman and the members for embarking on the familiarization tour with a view to reposition the local government service for better delivery.

Mr Akambe noted that the Warri South council needs recruitment of staffs, as well as appealed for the commission to prioritize seniority, merit, hard work, competence, good character as it would help guaranteed better management of human resources in the system.

The familiarization tour to Warri South local government was climaxed with complaints from different council staffs with assurance from the local government service commission chairman that the complaints would be addressed.
