DISPENSATION OF JUSTICE OFUOMA COMMUNITY UGHELLI GETS MAGISTRATE COURT

 1n an effort to bring justice closer to the people and ensure speedy dispensation of justice, the Delta State Government has opened a new Magistrate Court at Ofuoma,a Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area. 

The Chief Judge of Delta State, Honourable Justice Marshal Umukoro who inaugurated the Judiciary Magistrate Court, Ofuoma  on Tuesday said that the court will help to sustain the rule of law through easy access to justice in Ofuoma and neighbouring Communities.

Correspondent reports that the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, Oharisi the third, members of the bar and bench, the Provost of College of Health Technology Ofuoma, Dr Augustina Erah, the Chairman Delta State Health Contributory Commission, Dr Isaac Akpoveta, Palace chiefs among other notable personalities witnessed the formal opening of the Court

That is the Chief Judge of Delta State, Honourable Justice Marshal Umukoro entering the court with other serving and retired justices.

After the usual court procession, Honourable Justice Marshal Umukoro went into the business of the day by saying that the Ofuoma Magistrate Court is not only to bring justice closer to the people who have been going to Agbarho Otor and other clan to seek justice but also serve as an avenue to prevent recourse to self help by aggrieved Persons.

The Delta State Chief Judge added that the opening of the Magistrate Court Ofuoma Ughelli another opportunity has been opened to the members of the Nigerian Bar Association to practice their trade as Ministers in the temple of justice.

Honourable Justice Marshal Umukoro who  implored the bar and bench to work harmoniously to ensure smooth administration of justice and easy access to justice for all, also charged them to conduct themselves in and out of Court in a professional manner.

Honourable Justice Marshal Umukoro said that the opening of the Judiciary Magistrate Court Ofuoma Ughelli will address issues of crime and social vices as neighbouring Communities who have need to access justice can now easily press their claims and grievances before the court.

For his part, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA Ughelli Branch, Mr Eromonsele Ayo-Okhiria maintained that the opening of the Magistrate Court is in fulfilment of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 which commits UN nations to promote and provide access to justice for all.

The Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, Oharisi the third in his remarks expressed the joy of the kingdom to have the Magistrate Court.

Speaking in a similar vein, the President General of Ughelli Descendants Union, Olorogun Pius Omubaye gave a brief history of the Magistrate Court, adding that it will go a long way to address issues of crime and conflicts in the land.

Olorogun Isaac Akpoveta who contributed in facilitating the Magistrate Court, emphasized that with the Divisional Police Station and the Magistrate Court issues of litigation will be a thing of the past in Ofuoma and neighbouring Communities.

The event was climaxed with the formal opening of the the Magistrate Court.

Ofuoma Community recently had a Police Divisional Office as part of efforts to curb crime in the area and with the Magistrate Court on board it would be expected that conflicts between individuals will be handled head long.
