.RIV: As Nigerians mark the diamond jubilee of the country's Independence, the Pere of Gbaramatu kingdom, Oboro Gbaraun the second says the role of women in the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria in the last 60years cannot be over emphasized.
The Gbaramatu Monarch said this on Thursday at his palace in Oporoza Headquarters of the kingdom while playing host to women in Kokodiagbene community.

Addressing women from Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu kingdom, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro Gbaraun the second, commended the women for coming to celebrate the Independence with him noting that, for God to keep the country together in spite of all its challenges is worth celebrating.
The Gbaramatu Monarch highlighted the various roles played by women in the fight for the nation's independence.
He told them about the popular Aba Women Riot, the role of Mrs Fumnilayo Ransome Kuti amongst others.
The monarch advised the women to use their position as mothers to promote love and unity in the country.
Oboro Gbaraun the second described the diamond jubilee celebration of the nation as a unique one, expressing confidence that God will turn the tides in favour of the country.
He urged Nigerians to be hopeful, resilience and united, so as to build a stronger Nigeria.
Responding on behalf of the Kokodiagbene community women, Mrs Loveth Eguare lauded the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom for the promoting peace and unity in his kingdom and with her neighbours.
She noted that, under his reign the kingdom has recorded tremendous progress.
Mrs Eguare appealed that Kokodiagbene community women should be carried along in terms of empowerment and appointment.

The 60th independence anniversary of Nigeria was later climaxed with the cutting of the Nigeria's 60th Independence Anniversary Cake.
