LAND DISPUTE: OGHARA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL RESISTS ATTEMPT TO CEDE ITS LAND TO ANYONE

The Ovie of Oghara Kingdom Orefe the third has called on Delta State Government to investigate the alleged handing over of vast expanse of land at Otegbo belonging to Oghara Kingdom to the Nigerian Army.
The Oghara Monarch who made this call during the week while addressing protesters from the community demanded an immediate cessation of the actions and activities of the encroachments in whatever guise or coloration.
These are Chiefs and Olotus from Oghara Kingdom in Ethiope West LGA staging a peaceful protest at the boundary site of the vast expanse of land that has been allegedly given out to the Nigeria Army.
Addressing the placard carrying protesters the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom Orefe the third urged them to remain calm and peaceful expressing optimism that the Delta State Government and other relevant authorities will do the needful.
The Oghara Monarch alleged that the Itsekiris in Warri North local government area had earlier planned to establish a private university known as Warri University on the land in dispute but the Oghara Traditional Council resisted any form of construction and activities being carried out by one Mr Godwin Ebosa on Oghara territory.
He noted that, to their surprised they heard over the print and electronic media that the Olu of Warri Kingdom Ogiame Atuwatse has allegedly offered and ceded the large expanse of land purportedly to the Nigerian Army.
The Oghara monarch added that there is a subsisting judgment in favour of the people of Oghara Kingdom over the land in dispute and investigations is still being conducted by the Delta State Boundary Committee, as directed by the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria for the construction of a military barrack.
Orefe the third appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to use his good office to stop the cessation of all actions and activities of these encroachments in whatever guise or coloration to prevent breakdown of law and order in the affected area.
He noted that the people of Oghara shall not accept under any guise, the annexation of an inch of her territory to anyone, group or ethnic nationality.
