The epileptic power supply experienced by consumers in Osubi community, Okpe local government area has worsened as a tipper lorry crashed into several high tension poles at PTI junction in Effurun. 

The unfortunate incident forced many into fetching water from the well and other local sources.

Two weeks after these electric poles and aluminum conductors were damaged by a tipper lorry at PTI junction, repair work is yet to be carried out by officials of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.

Investigation revealed that the driver of the tipper lorry has been apprehended and the owner made to pay for the cost of damage.

Officials of the electricity distribution company could not be reached however to confirm this latest development.

Residents of Osubi community and other consumers from neighbouring communities are having a bitting effect as the power outage has paralyzed the socio economic livelihood of the people. 

Residents of the affected areas have resorted to fetching water from the well while others spend money to buy petrol to pump water for their domestic use.

U.P SOUND..Other challenges which the electricity consumers want both the BEDC and federal government  addressed are the frequent hike in electricity tariffs, frequent blackout, and the high estimated billing by BEDC. UP SOUND...Meanwhile, otefe oghara community, oviorie,orerokpe,parts of isoko and ughelli communities have been out of power supply  for several months now and are appealing to BEDC to restore elecricity to them.
