EASTER MESSAGE: GUWOR SUES FOR LOVE AMONG NIGERIANS

The lawmaker elect for Warri South West constituency at the Delta state House of Assembly, Mr. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor has called on Nigerians, particularly Christians to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by being selfless like Christ who died for humanity and resurrected on the third day.
Mr. Guwor's Easter message was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Warri.
The Warri South West constituency lawmaker elect said Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ as an indication that Christians have received victory over death and good over evil.
The legislator-elect emphasized that Easter is a time for Christians to reflect on the victory which Christ Jesus gave to them over death and also a time to rejoice, show love, and forgive one another, as well as exhibit a renewed hope in the grace of God.
He expressed optimism that this year's Easter celebration would usher in progress for Warri South West constituency, Delta State and Nigeria at large.
Mr. Emomotimi Guwor however, wished all Christians all over the world a blissful Easter celebration.

Comrade Timiyan who was Personal Assistant to the immediate past Ijaw DESOPADEC Commissioner, thanked the Delta State Governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for appointing Mr. Paul Bebenimibo to represent the Ijaw nation on the Board of DESOPADEC.
The Niger Delta Youth activist added that the Ijaw people are proud of Deacon Kingsley Otuaro for effectively blending with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in their quest to make Delta State prosperous.
While felicitating with him for his successful swearing-in into the new DESOPADEC Board, Comrade Jackson Timiyan said Mr. Paul Bebenimibo has all it takes to deliver on his mandate, and

UPUA FREE MEDICALS CONTINUATION
UPUA GIVES OUT FREE MEDICATIONS TO URHOBO INDIGENES

As part of its efforts to complement govt's initiatives in delivering quality healthcare to Deltans, the Urhobo Progress Union America, UPUA, has given out free medicals to some Deltans.
The President of UPU America, Olorogun Onome Dema who spoke shortly after the free medicals at Government Hospital, Ekpan said the gesture was to ensure that Deltans live in sound health at all times.
Speaking on the free medicals organized by the Urhobo Progress Union UPU America, the President, Dr. Onome Dema said the free medicare was a follow up to the free medical outreach of the group carried out to mark the 2O18 Urhobo cultural day at Ovwianmuge Agbarho.
Dr. Dema recommended some ways through which people can live in good health, such as regular exercises, eating right, taking good care of oneself, as well as consulting certified medical experts whenever there are medical challenges.
The UPU America President disclosed that apart from the medical outreach, the body had earlier organized Urhobo language competitions to promote the speaking of Urhobo language amongst Urhobo children.
She said UPUA had also sunk boreholes in parts of Urhobo land to provide portable drinking water for the people, amongst other community projects.
The Head of the UPU America free medicare outreach, Dr David Ogbon told Newsmen that the beneficiaries received treatments for high blood pressure, diabetes, hypertension, malaria and other diseases.
Another medical expert, Dr John Ogbonna urged the public to always go for medical check-ups in recognized hospitals rather than patronizing quacks.
For their parts, some beneficiaries of the UPU America free medicare outreach thanked its President, Dr. Onome Dema and her team for coming back home to render free medicals to patients.
They appealed to other well-to-do Urhobo groups and individuals to emulate UPU America in doing things that will better the lot of Urhobo people, as well as move the Urhobo nation forward.

WOMEN DAY: CEPEJ CONDEMNS VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

The National Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), Comrade Sheriff Mulade says one out of three women worldwide experiences violence from an intimate partner.
Comrade Mulade stated this on Friday in a press statement to mark this year’s International Women’s Day
He said: “every two second a girl under the age of eighteen gets married, in every six minutes, girls are at risk of undergoing female genital mutilation and other gender based violence.
The International Women’s Day 2019 campaign theme is “Balance for Batter” a call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world.
He said now is a great and important time in history to do everything possible in order to achieve a more gender-balanced society.
The NGO Coordinator said although women have come a long way, there’s still more to be achieved from grassroots activism to worldwide action.
The Coordinator also celebrated brave women everywhere, especially those who support, advocate and work towards gender equality and fair treatment of women and girls.
He congratulated women in Nigeria and around the world for this year’s International Women’s Day, adding that the capacity of a woman is virtually limitless.
He expressed the hope that Nigeria would have the right statistics and engage the competencies of women in nation building.

Senator Aguariavwodo made the call at a forum of the Delta Democratic Trust in Okpare Olomu, Ughelli South local govt area at the weekend.
According to Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo the Delta Development Trust is a political pressure group under the People's Democratic Party PDP.
Sen. Emmanuel Aguariavwodo who was the convener of the forum said it was to charge members of the PDP to spread the message of re-electing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the March 9, 2019 polls.
Senator Aguariavwodo who is the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Infrastructure and Housing Development said Governor Ifeanyi Okowa deserved a second tenure to enable him complete his development projects in the twenty five local government areas of the state.
He urged the electorate to vote peacefully and ensure that their votes are counted and collated before leaving the polling center.
Speaking in the same vein, the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Oghenekaro Ilolo, the Commissioner representing Ughelli South, Udu, Uvwie and Urhobo in Warri, Honourable Teleb Tebite, as well as a former civil commissioner in the state, Professor Patrick Muoboghare described Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a man of the people.
They expressed optimism that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa whom they described as a workaholic smart Governor, a listening leader, would emerge victorious at the Saturday March 9, 2019 polls.
Other speakers including the Executive Assistant to Governor on Beautification, Chief Grace Aghoghovbia, amonog others, praised Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his infrastructural and human capital development projects, as well as appointments, education and skills acquisition trainings.
Everyone at the forum unanimously pledged to go to their various units to canvass for votes for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and all PDP House of Assembly candidates for the Saturday March 9 2019 elections.

Chief Izoukomor in a statement signed by his Personal Assistant Comrrade Jackson Timiyan says the victory of Senator James Manager, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi and Hon Julius Pondi clearly shows that Delta South is for PDP.
Chief Izoukomor who is also the PDP campagn coordinator for Warri South West local government area expressed optimism that the PDP lawmakers-elect would perform when they get to the National Assembly, in terms of sponsoring life changing bills and moving motions that will better the lot of the people.

UPU AMERICA : PARENTS IMPLORED TO TEACH THEIR KIDS URHOBO LANGUAGE
Parents and guardians have been urged to always teach their children and wards their local languages so as to prevent them from going into extinction.
The President of Urhobo Progress Union America, UPUA, Olorogun Onome Dema gave the charge at Effurun during the 2019 annual Urhobo language competition organized for public secondary schools in Urhoboland.
Our correspondent reports that the Urhobo language competition took place at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun FUPRE courtesy of the Urhobo Progress Union, America, UPUA.
Sixty six government' secondary schools drawn from the twenty four kingdoms of Urhobo Nation participated in the 2019 edition of Urhobo language competition put together by the Urhobo Progress Union America, UPUA.
The participating students from the various public schools passed through many stages and rounds, answering questions in Urhobo language.
At the end of the keenly contested competition, representatives of Okpara secondary school emerged winners.
Speaking on the Urhobo language competition, the President of the Urhobo Progress Union America, Olorogun Onome Dema said the annual Urhobo language competition was to encourage Urhobo children to speak the language, to prevent it from going into extinction.
Dr. Onome Dema told newsmen that the UPU America also organizes Urhobo language competition for Urhobo children overseas, to encourage them to speak their mother tongue.
She advised Urhobo parents and guardians whose children and wards hardly speak the language, to periodically take them to the village, buy Urhobo languague audio and visual aids and also make the speaking of Urhobo language compulsory in their homes.
For his part, the Director of the 2019 Urhobo language competition, Mr. Peter Nosiama said the competition would go a long way in promoting the speaking of Urhobo language across the demographic strata of Urhobo Nation.
Some of the participating students, their teachers and parents commended the UPU America for facilitating the Urhobo language competition and implored other Urhobo bodies to emulate the gesture.
The 2019 Urhobo language competition was climaxed with the presentation of cash prizes to the three best schools.
Representatives of Okpara Secondary School came first with a cash prize of one hundred thousand naira, those from Afesiere Secondary School took the second position and smiled home with a cash prize of seventy five thousand naira, while students from Erhor Secondary School came third with a cash reward of fifty thousand naira.
Other participants also went home with various consolation prizes.
