STATE, SENATORIAL AND LGA EXCOS OF DELTA MONITORING GROUP INAUGURATED AT EFFURUN, CALLS ON DELTA WORKS COMMISSIONER TO RUN FOR GOVERNORSHIP IN 2023
The Delta State, Senatorial District and Local Government Areas Executives of foremost political pressure group, Delta Monitoring Group, DMG, was on Sunday inaugurated at Effurun, Delta State.
The Inauguration which was well attended by members of the group from the twenty-five Local Government Areas in the State was chaired by the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Big Bell International Limited Warri, Hon Dr Prince Alex Igbinoba.
In his opening speech, the State Coordinator, Comrade Stephen Otomewo said, Delta Monitoring Group, with the acronym, DMG, is a political pressure group with membership in all the villages, wards and 25 LGAs in the state
Comrade Otomewo explained that the group is aimed at identifying credible candidates that will take over the mantle of leadership in the State in 2023, encouraging them to run and supporting them to victory.
He added that, they also monitor the activities of political and public Office holders with a view to correct, profer solutions and honour hardworking political and public Office holders.
Comrade Otomewo noted that, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has performed creditably well and as such the state needs a credible leader of same pedigree and commitment to his Stronger Delta Agenda to sustain the tempo.
He added that, the group has identified the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye as the most qualified person to take over from Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in 2023.
Comrade Otomewo said the group will prevail on Chief James Augoye to run for the plum job and give him all the necessary support, if he eventually agrees to run.
Chairman of the event, Hon Dr Prince Alex Igbinoba commended the leadership of DMG for the elaborate mobilization of members from across the state and urged them to remain focus in their mission.
He noted that, their choice of Chief James Augoye to take over from Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was a right choice, as the Works Commissioner shares almost Thesame attribute with his boss Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Hon Dr Prince Alex Igbinoba described Chief Augoye as a humble, committed, experienced and well educated politician who is one of the committed apostle of the Stronger Delta Agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
In his goodwill message, the representative of Delta Works Commissioner, Mr Victory Ukeredi a lawyer, thanked members of the group for the honour and promised to communicate their message to Chief James Augoye.
For their parts, Hon Pudiya Biakpara, Special Assistant to the Governor, Hon Insurance Ayenuku and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Hon Kennedy Eyube urged the group to carry out their duties within the confines of the law.
Highpoint of the event was the swearing in of the State, Senatorial District and Local Government Areas Executives of the group to the admiration of all present.

FOREMOST POLITICAL GROUP, DMG EXCOs FOR INAUGURATION ON SUNDAY
All is now set for the earthshaking inauguration of the State, Senatorial and Local Government Area Executive of foremost political group, Delta Monitoring Group, DMG, on Sunday, 21st February 2021.
A statement signed by the State Coordinator of DMG, Comrade Stephen Otomewo and it's State Secretary, Comrade Raymond Sibisaba says the inauguration ceremony will take place at the PTI Conference Centre Effurun by 12noon.
It adds that, the Chief Executive Officer of Big Bell International Limited Warri, Dr Alex Igbinoba will be the chairman of the event while the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye and other top government functionaries as well as meaning Deltans are expected at the event.
It called on all to attend without fail.

VALENTINE'S CELEBRATION*
*OBULE INTEGRATED SCHOOL SAPELE ORGANIZES SPECIAL VALENTINE FOR PARENTS AND CHILDREN OF THE SCHOOL.*
As some children spent their Valentine's day in immoral and ungodly activities, the management of Obule Integrated School Sapele at the weekend gathered the children of the school to teach them of the true essential of Valentine's Day.
The special Valentine event which was held at the Sapele Residence of Okakuro Charles Obule also gave the children the opportunity to had fun.
Correspondent reports that the parents and guardians of the children was not also left out in the celebration.
The Vice Principal Academy of the school Mr Sydney Oghenegare and the Head of Daycare and Creche Mrs Oghenemine Onyemeforo in their separate lectures told the children that Valentine's Day celebration at their levels is for them to love themselves first, show agape love to their friends as well as love their studies.
They emphasized that celebrating Valentine's Day wrongly as some adolescent do in the society, only brings about heartbreak, jeopardize their bright futures as well as affect their studies negatively.
For their parts, the Principal of the school Mr Onojafe Alvin and one of the organizers of the special Valentine's Day Party Mr Gerald Ukaegbu both added that the essence of organizing the event was to expose the children to the real meaning of Valentine as well as to celebrate the parents and guardians of the school.
Mr Alvin and Mr Ukaegbu disclosed that Obule Integrated School Sapele as a humanitarian school is into the business of harnessing young minds for academic excellence as well as paying emphasis on their morality.
Some of the parents and guardians of Obule Integrated School Sapele who spoke to newsmen in their separate interviews lauded Okakuro Charles Obule and the management of the school for organizing the Valentine's party.
They described the special Valentine's celebrations as a worthwhile event which is the first of it's kind in the area.
The children of Obule Integrated School Sapele after the lectures also had time to dance and catch fun to the fullest.

The People's Democratic Party PDP Warri South West on Tuesday inaugurated its ward to ward campaign committee as the party leadership plans to deliver the party chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates as well as all twenty councilorship candidates come the March 6 2021 Delta State Local Government elections.
The PDP chairman for Warri South West Council Area Chief Favour Izoukumor who inaugurated the campaign committee, said that leadership of the party at the council area are optimistic that the various campaign committee persons have all it takes to do the job.
Correspondent reports that Chief Favour Izoukumor also presented party flags to the various councilor candidates.
After inaugurating the People's Democratic Party PDP Warri South West Council campaign committee ahead of the Delta State Local Government elections for March 6 2021, the chairman of the party for the council area, Chief Favour Izoukumor said that the party is fully set to deliver all its candidates.
Chief Izoukumor urged the campaign committee persons to carry out their political campaigns at the ward levels in complaint with the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC precautionary measure.
Chief Izoukumor who also responded to questions from newsmen in an interview, described the PDP as one big party that conducted a peaceful primaries which led to the emergence of the various credible party candidates.
The Warri South West PDP chairman who was also a one time DESOPADEC Commissioner representing the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality added that the party victory is sure.
Other leaders of the party who spoke in an interview including Mr Boro Opudu and the PDP Vice Chairman for Warri South West Mr Jeo Arubi all stressed that the atmosphere at the Secretariat is a clear evidence that Warri South West is PDP local government area.
They pointed out that PDP has never failed in any elections in Warri South West and will certainly not fail in the forth coming local government area in the state.
The event was climaxed by the official inauguration of the campaign committee as well as the official handover of the PDP flags to the various councilorship candidates.

HON GODWIN OBIE, SSA TO GOVERNOR CONDOLES WITH GOV OKOWA OVER FATHER'S DEMISE
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Hon Godwin Obie has condoled with his boss, His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over the death of his father, Chief Arthur Okorie Okowa.
In his condolence message, Hon Obie a People Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, said the death of Chief Arthur Okorie Okowa was a huge loss to the Okowa family, Ika nation and Delta State at large.
He noted that, Chief Arthur Okorie Okowa was a Community leader and patriarch of the Okowa family who has helped to unify his people.
The SSA to the Governor on Security Matters urged Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and other members of the family to take solace in the fact that their father lived a successful life and he is now resting in the bossom of the Lord.
Hon Obie commended Governor Okowa for his huge development strides in the state and urged Deltans to double their support for him to enable him do more.

POLICE BAN ON UNAUTHORIZED USE OF VEHICLES WITH TINTED WINDSCREEN
RESIDENTS CALL FOR ENFORCEMENT
In response to our report on the unauthorised and indiscriminate use of vehicles with tinted and sirens in the state less than two weeks ago, the Delta State Police Command on Thursday placed a ban on the indiscriminate and unauthorized use of sirens as well as vehicles with tinted windscreens, unapproved covering of vehicles plate number, illegal spy plate numbers and revolving light by unauthorized persons.
DRTV Correspondent Omonigho Edaah in today's report sampled the views of some Deltans on the ban and its enforcement.
The indiscriminate use of vehicles with tinted glasses and sirens has continued to generate security concerns among members of the public amid rising crime rate especially kidnapping and armed robbery.
The state has witnessed a surge in the number of kidnap cases, robbery, cultism and other forms of crime especially as the police withdrew from the roads in the aftermath of the endSARS protest that shook the nation to its foundation
Determined to tackle this menace, the new State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Ali as part of efforts to address the challenge placed a ban on the abuse of sirens, tinted vehicles windscreen amongst others.
The move was hailed by a cross section of the public but no without reservations. Speaking on the ban, some Deltans noted that making a law is one thing while enforcement is another in Nigeria.
They stressed that laws in Nigeria only affects the poor and the common man and not the rich noting that the laws are usually flouted by some of the highly placed in the society.
They expressed fears that the matching order to officers of the command to thoroughly check and impound vehicles of defaulters will not be effectively enforced due to the high level of corruption bedevilling the force and other segments of the society
The State Commissioner of Police, Ari Ali had solicited the understanding and cooperation of the public in the state in his quest to combat the high level of crime in the State The vehicle Act Cap M21 Section 1 subsection A laws of the Federation, prohibits the use of vehicles with tinted, sirens among others without permit.
